Personally, I believe that these invisible dog fences work wonders. In a very short period of time you can have you pet trained to stay within the confines of your property. So, how exactly do wireless dog fences work? It's very simple really, the device comes with two main parts, the transmitter and the collars. You can purchase multiple collars that will work with the same transmitter depending on how many dogs you are training. You can set the transmitter to a smaller or larger radius depending on the size of your property. The transmitter is constantly sending a signal out to the dog collars. If you pet wanders out of range they will receive the corrective “shock”. This will let the dog know that they have done something that is not allowed and over time they will learn to stay on your property.

I have found that is also very important to give you pet a visual aid to help them know exactly where your property ends, this way they will be sure to remember when and where to stop wandering. I believe that they easiest thing to do is to setup a few flags around the perimeter of your property, although you can really use anything you'd like. Anything that will help your dog visualize your property and make it easier for them to learn their boundaries.

Although the point of an electric dog fence is to make it easier for you to train your dog, you may want to add some positive reinforcement along with the negative. For example, if you call your pet away from a certain area and they respond to your command promptly, reward them with some sort of treat. Adding some positive along with the electric dog fences negative will help your pet learn to live by your rules even faster.

There is a certain stigma associated with electric dog fences and that just isn't true. You may love your dog as if it were your child but it is important to remember that dogs are still animals and can not learn or understand the same way a child would. An electric dog fence helps your pet learn the way animals due, with experience. When your pet begins to associated leaving your property without you being present as an unpleasant experience, they will naturally no longer want to. This will help keep your pet safe and protected.

Electric dog fences really are a great way to keep your dog safe while allowing them to be able to run around your yard without being tied down by a leash.
